Quick Hits: Feb. 15, 2019

1) The Flyers will hold an 11 a.m. practice at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Friday in advance of their home-and-home set with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center and Little Caesars Arena on Sunday.

2) Justin Bailey may remain in the Flyers' lineup on Saturday after making his debut with the team in Tuesday's 5-4 road win in Minnesota. He skated just 4:44 over six shifts, in part because of the high volume of penalty killing the Flyers had to do, but was initially credited with the Flyers' first goal of the game (soon changed to Ivan Provorov).

It does not appear as if rookie defenseman Philippe Myers, who was recalled last Saturday from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, will imminently make his NHL debut. Flyers interim head coach Scott Gordon put forth his rationale at Thursday's practice.

"To take out of the D just to play Phil because he's here, it's one thing if you're playing .500 hockey and the team is struggling and you're looking for something different, a different look, or a different type of player. But it's kind of hard to take one of the defensemen of the lineup when you're in the midst of a run that's been successful, and kind of minimize the effort that those other six defensemen have done," Gordon said.

"It would be different if there's an injury. I wouldn't have any hesitancy. It's be different if there was one guy who was really struggling all the way through, but that hasn't been the case. So, as much as I want to see him in the lineup, it's got to be the right circumstances."

3) On Friday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field, there will be a Stadium Series promotional media availability event with players from the Flyers, Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Wings. Expected participants are Flyers players Travis Sanheim, Travis Konecny and James van Riemsdyk, Eagles tackle Jordan Mailata and Wings player Trevor Baptiste.

4) Congratulations to Flyers captain Claude Giroux and wife Ryanne. The couple announced on Thursday that Ryanne is due to deliver a baby boy in August. As anyone who is a parent can attest, nothing changes your life and reshapes how you view and prioritize things quite like having a child.

5) On Thursday, the Flyers activated rookie winger Pascal Laberge, who has missed the entire season due to hip surgery during camp, from the injured non-roster list. Laberge will join the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

6) My thoughts on the trade rumors for Edmonton Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot: I would prefer if the Flyers wait until the off-season to evaluate their goaltending plan for next season and take some more time to determine whom will play in conjunction with Carter Hart. If that player is Cam Talbot, fine. If Anthony Stolarz holds up physically and continues to play well, I'd be OK with that as well (he's 25 years old now and will be in his sixth pro year next season). If the Flyers do trade for Talbot before the Feb. 25 trade deadline, I would assume they'd get the impending unrestricted free agent pre-emptively re-signed to an extension before July.

7) Feb. 15: Happy 60th birthday wishes go out to Flyers Hall of Fame left wing Brian Propp (1959) and happy 47th birthday wished go out to future Hockey Hall of Fame right winger Jaromir Jagr (1972).
