Randy Carlyle fired; Murray will take over as interim coach |

The Anaheim Ducks and Randy Carlyle finally forced the hand of GM Bob Murray. After repeatedly saying he would not make a coaching change mid-season, Murray was forced to pull the trigger and relieve Carlyle of his duties.
Earlier today the Ducks announced that Murray will take over behind the bench until a new bench boss is found.
The Ducks have been horrendous for nearly two months. The support of Carlyle has been widely criticized by fans, but even Murray had to be sickened by what he saw happening on the ice. Carlyle had completely lost the team and it manifested in lack of effort and a complete lack of compete, game in and game out
Statement from Murray:
"We thank Randy for everything he has done for the organization, leading the team to a Stanley Cup and three conference final appearances, he has accomplished so much in Anaheim. Difficult decisions need to be made when times are tough, and our play has clearly been unacceptable. We have a tradition of success in Anaheim and we need to get back to that."
The decision to bring Carlyle back for a second time was a head-scratcher in the first place. It was hidden by some misleading results. Anaheim was still winning, but last springs playoff flop and this season's fall from grace was more than enough to make this change.
Unfortunately, it's far too little and way too late.
