IIHF announces 2019 class of IIHF hall of fame

American legend Mike Modano, Slovakians Miroslav Satan, and Zigmund Palffy will be amongst five people that will be inducted into IIHF Hall of Fame this spring.

Together with them, IIHF will also welcome Jorgen Jonsson and Hayley Wickenheiser who currently holds the most titles amongst female hockey players.

The induction ceremony will be held on May 26th during the 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championship.

Mike Modano spent 21 seasons in the NHL recording 1374(561G+813A) points in 1499 games he played, just one shy of 1500 milestone also adding 176 playoff appearances and recording 146 (58G+88A) points. In 1999 he helped Dallas ''Stars'' win the Stanley Cup and in 2000 they made the Stanley Cup final. With team USA he got a triumph at the 1996 World Cup and earned Olympic bronze in 2002.

Miroslav Satan won his Stanley Cup ring in 2009 together with the Pittsburgh Penguins. During his career, he recorded 735 points (363G+372A) in 1050 games. In 2002 he led Team Slovakia to the World Championship gold as well as silver in 2000 and 2012.

Zigmund Palffy in his career took part in 684 NHL games scoring 329 goals as well as 384 assists. He won the World Championship gold medal in 2002.

Hayley Wickenheiser has helped team Canada win four Olympic gold medals also being the all-time leading scorer in Olympic tournaments recording 51 points in 26 games. She's currently employed as the Assistant Director of Player Development.

Meanwhile, Jonsson helped Team Sweden win gold medals at the 1994 and 2006 Olympics.
