It may have taken some time, but Paul Fenton is transforming the Wild roster. Yesterday he completed another trade, albeit not a major transaction but one that improves the roster depth.

Fenton dealt the Wild's fifth round pick in this upcoming June draft (Wild still own Capitals 5th round pick) for veteran defenseman and former Bemidji State Beaver, Brad Hunt along with the Golden Knights 2019 6th round pick.

Hunt has appeared in 13 games this season with Vegas, scoring 2 goals and adding 5 assists playing limited minutes. Last season Hunt played 45 games for the Golden Knights and finished with 3 goals and 15 assists.

The 30 year old Hunt is a left handed shooting defenseman with a good shot and offensive upside, giving the Wild some greater organizational depth on the blueline. Hunt is a UFA at season's end so there is urgency in his game, if and when he is called upon.

Not sure just yet if Hunt will be in the Wild lineup tomorrow night, and if so who is going to be the roster casualty.

Either way there are roster decisions to be made with this move coupled with Eric Fehr's return which is not expected until after the break. All good though because the message is very clear from Fenton, nothing is going to be given automatically moving forward. Healthy competition is here to fuel the fire yo get the boys moving.

A side note from last night's win, was the celebration at the conclusion of the game. To me that appeared much more spirited and heartfelt congrats to Dubnyk and the rest of the team. It was definitely not the run of the mill "good win" "nice game" celebration.

Another good sign for the Wild as they look to change the course.
