Last Place Opponents 2 Wild 0, LA is Next

This was supposed to be a stretch of games where the Wild make up some of the ground they lost in December. Three straight last place opponents wraps up tonight with the Wild still seeking their first points in the three game span.

If Boudreau was irate after Saturday's 5-2 drubbing at the hands of the Red Wings, who knows what must be going through his head after last night's disgraceful performance in Philadelphia.

By all accounts last night was one of the sloppiest games played this season by both clubs. There were missed opportunities, bad passes, lazy penalties and some really shoddy goaltending on both ends of the rink.

We have said it all along that the Wild are somewhere between the very good team we saw in the first six weeks of the season and the miserable show that we witnessed the last few games.

But somewhere in between is a huge problem. At some point a decision has to be made continue to beat the same drum with mild success or change things up.

It is obvious that the Wild are not as good of a team as they were a year ago, and the holes are becoming tougher to plug. There is a fair amount of talent that can carry the team for stretches but it also provides long periods of suspect play as well.

There comes a point where Paul Febton needs to stop sitting on his hands and make something happen. It does not need to be sweeping changes all at once, but come on, he is the expert and his job is to put the best product on the ice.

Not sure if it is a conflict with Boudreau, where Fenton wants his own coach. Is that why he is refusing to give Boudreau some weapons in which to work? Or have the players just had enough of BB and now they are making their own statement?

Maybe somewhere in between just like the Wild...

Either way something has to change.

If tonight's game is another Wild clunker, we may just see BB lose it during the game.

It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
