UPDATE: "ELEVEN"; Andrew Cogliano dealt to Dallas

Like something out of the Netflix show "Stranger Things," the Anaheim Ducks find themselves in a post apocalyptic nightmare known as the "upside down." The losing streak is at eleven, just like the main character in the aforementioned show, following a 4-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

The lone bright spot is that Anaheim earned a loser point, but even the loser point seems too good for this club right now.

Once again, the Ducks allowed a multi-goal lead to evaporate without earning two points. Winnipeg's Bryan Little scored with 11 seconds remaining in overtime to sucker punch Anaheim in the groin.

Anaheim led 2-0 and 3-2 in the third period, before allowing the Jets to put even on a Ben Chiarot shot that made its way through traffic and past a frustrated John Gibson.

Anaheim is now 0-7-4 since mid December. That's an 0-for-2019 if you're keeping track at home.

If you're searching for a silver lining
...Rickard Rakell and Andrew Cogliano each scored their first goals since December 2nd - a 6-5 win over Washington. That seems like 100 years ago, doesn't it?

Seriously though, this is embarrassing. This is a proud franchise that prides itself on cultivating a winning environment. It has to be very tense in that locker room. It doesn't matter what your opinion of Randy Carlyle or Bob Murray is - a change must be made and I am not a "heads must roll' type of guy.

The Ducks are all smoke and mirrors. They are not a good hockey team. They are not even good enough to be okay. They are a mediocre team with a mediocre record and we all knew that coming into the season. The are hanging on to playoff hopes by a thread, and that thread is frayed about to snap.

Had it not been for out of this world goaltending, they would be in the Lose for Hughes conversation with their hated rivals in Los Angeles. The Penguins exposed the Ducks for what they are and the Jets reconfirmed that tonight. All signs point to major changes coming to Katella Ave very soon. Unfortunately, it's way too little and it sure looks like it's way too late.

UPDATE: One way to get the fans back in your good graces is to trade a fan favorite, right? That's exactly what the Ducks did on Monday. Hours after GM Bob Murray came out and said he has no plans to fire his coach he trades Andrew Cogliano to Dallas for Devon Shore. "Cogs" was loved in Anaheim for his speed, grit and an iron man streak. In Shore, the Ducks get a younger (24) player that can play both wing and center. I'm assuming more changes are coming. Stay tuned....

Keeping with the Netflix theme...

Those of you stuck with a Bird Box blindfold on, Anaheim is tied with Minnesota for the second wild card spot with 47 points. The Ducks have played two more games. Leave that blindfold on if you want, it won't matter anyway because you're nightmare is already a reality
