You Couldn't Script This: Coyotes Get Another Injury + Make Trade

The Coyotes have suffered yet another long term injury.

With Antti Raanta, Jason Demers, Christian Dvorak and Nick Schmaltz all out for the season already, and with Michael Grabner out indefinitely, the Coyotes have added another name to their list of the injured.

Brad Richardson suffered what people are calling an 'upper body injury' but I'll go ahead and tell you what I heard: broken hand, out four to six weeks and seen in a cast.

Why do people who know better continue to carry water for the team and league and report vaguely on injuries? I don't know. Maybe they don't know better. Maybe it just seems like that, but I read a lot of hockey reporting and I see people who cover almost every team doing this.

It's lame.

If I'm wrong about it being a hand injury, so be it, but the person who told me that has never been wrong yet.

Anyways, to make up for all the injuries, the Coyotes have sent Jacob Graves and a sixth round pick in next year's draft to the Flyers for Jordan Weal.

Weal is a centre, 26, and he has nine points in 26 games. He was a Kings pick in the 3rd round of 2010. (info from hockeydb)

He has a career high of eight goals.

I looked at a few player comparison charts though, and he seems alright. Maybe a helpful depth player. Certainly not going to make up for losing Schmaltz, but what can you do?
