The Philadelphia Flyers dismissed head coach Dave Hakstol on Monday morning after three-plus seasons with the team. Lehigh Valley Phantoms head coach Scott Gordon has been named interim head coach of the Flyers. Players were subsequently informed before taking the ice at roughly 12:45 for practice.

Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher released the following statement prior to a 2:30 p.m. press conference:

All Flyers assistant coaches -- Rick Wilson, Kris Knoblauch, Ian Laperriere and goalie coach Kim Dillabaugh were on the ice during practice. Hakstol, naturally, was not. In Allentown this morning, Gordon addressed his players after practice. He will speak to the Philadelphia media after Tuesday's morning skate.

On a roster related note, the Flyers called up 20-year-old goaltending prospect Carter Hart from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, returned Alex Lyon to the Phantoms and placed Anthony Stolarz on injured reserve (estimated 2-4 week timetable) with a lower-body injury. Michal Neuvirth became a second-time dad; a baby boy named Marko. Mother and child are both doing well.
