The Avalanche lost more than a game on Saturday when they were drilled 7-1 by Tampa Bay.

Coach Jared Bednar revealed after practice Monday that forward Vladislav Kamenev sustained a shoulder injury that will require surgery that could keep him out of the lineup for the remainder of the season.

“It’s long term, might be for the year,” Bednar said. “I don’t know the whole scenario there.”

Kamenev was injured in the second period against the Lightning.

Bednar said he hoped to have an update Tuesday on forward Alexander Kerfoot, who has an undisclosed injury and didn't practice.

Defenseman Mark Barbario, who has missed five games with an upper-body injury, skated while wearing a non-contact jersey. Bednar said Barbario skated while the team was away last week but didn’t have a further update.

The Avalanche recalled forward A.J. Greer from the Colorado Eagles of the AHL late Monday and he’s expected to play Tuesday against Edmonton at the Pepsi Center.

Greer, who will be 22 on Friday, is having an excellent season with the Eagles, collecting 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 20 games.

The 6-feet-3, 204-pound left wing was a second-round pick (No. 39) in the 2015 NHL draft. He has four assists in 23 previous games with the Avalanche.

Kamenev, 22, has two goals and three assists in 23 games with the Avalanche while averaging 9:02 in ice time, mainly on the fourth line.

Kamenev has had a rough go of it since his acquisition last season from Nashville in the three-team trade that sent Matt Duchene to Ottawa. He sustained a broken arm in his Avalanche debut and missed 50 games.
