Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen made franchise history on Thursday night in Montreal. The “O.G.” Buffalo Sabres Rasmus scored the overtime game winner in a mistake-filled, defensively deficient track meet of a beautiful against the red hot Montreal Canadiens.



The Sabres played poorly at times. They didn't play their best game, however, they found a win to win four point game against a division rival.


Before he scored the game winner, Ristolainen made a sloppy turnover that led to an odd man rush against Carter Hutton. Ristolainen got redemption.


Then, Ristolainen grabbed the puck, took off while buring the fumes in the gas tank and buried a clapper love glove on Carey Price.




Game over.

Ristolainen now has the most regular-season overtime goals by a defensemen in Buffalo Sabres franchise history.

Ristolainen now has 4 OT GWG, surpassing his head coach Phil Housley and Tyler Myers, who scored the overtime game winners apiece.


Ristolainen scored at 1:38 of OT to give the Sabres a dramatic come from behind 6-5 win against the Montreal Canadiens. The Sabres blew four one goal leads against the Habs.

The win is Buffalo's 8th victory in its first 16 games played. The Sabres are now 8-6-2 on the season.







The Sabres entered the game in a wild card spot in the Eastern standings. By earning two points, the Sabres now have 18 points this season, which ties them for fourth place in the East.


The red hot Jeff Skinner scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season for the Sabres.

Skinner now has 11 goals this season. Only Patrick Kane (Hawks), Timo Meier (Sharks), Alex Ovechkin (Capitals) and David Pastrnak (Bruins) have scored more goal (12 each).


Conor Sheary scored for the Sabres, his 101st career point in his 200th NHL game.




Vlad Sobotka also scored two gaols for the Sabres.

Jack Eichel, Samson Reinhart and Evan Rodrigues chipped in two assists each.

The red hot Skinner-Eichel-Pominville line combined to score two goals and three assists against the Canadiens. Skinner started playing with Eichel and Pominville nne games ago in Los Angeles on October 20. The trio has combined to scored 18 goals and 25 assists in their last nine games playing together.






Linus Ullmark made 27 saves on 32 shots in the first two periods. Phil Housley pulled Ullmark after 40 minutes of play. Enter Carter Hutton, who made five saves in the third period and OT.

Jonathan Drouin, Matthew Peca and Nicolas Deslauriers each had a goal and an assist for Montreal (8-5-3). Max Domi had three assists.

Carey Price made 25 saves. Price has allowed at least four goals in his past four starts.
