Game day: Leafs eager to chew up Penguins

It’s a frigid and overcast day in the beautiful city of Toronto and the Maple Leafs are looking to increase their win streak to five. Matthews leads the pack with ten goals and has been outstanding in the early going of the season. The Leafs power play has been just as hot and has shown no signs of slowing down!

If Nylander hasn’t figured out by now he’s blowing it than I can see the Leafs persuing a trade with the Colorado Avalanche or Nashville Predators for one of their quality defensemen. Both teams have quality young defenders (and an abundance at that) and could be equally as beneficial swapping players.

Time will tell but I think we see something come to life in the next 24 hours regarding Nylander.

Embarrassing if you ask me.

The Penguins look horrendous to start the season and a quick start peppering Matt Murray is exactly what the Leafs will have in mind. Murray has been battling injuries left and right for a couple seasons now and seems to have lost a bit of his edge because of it. Toronto needs to pounce on the Penguins early and gobble up a shaky goalie and capitalize on this defensively weak roster Pittsburg is icing.

It’s the usual suspects the Leafs will have to contain Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang and Guentzal who’s off to a decent start. With the depth the Leafs have they will certainly be giving Pittsburgh’s bottom six a work out with their high octane speed.

Speaking of speed...how about our boy Kapanen. Love to see Kappy bury one tonight and keep the hot streak going; his overall play has been extremely impressive.

Andersen will hold the fort tonight and comes into the game 4-1.

Enjoy, thanks for reading.
