At 21 years of age, Eichel is the youngest captain in Sabres history, passing Jim Schoenfeld, who served as the team’s captain as a 23-year-old in the 1975-76 season.

On Sunday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks played the most competitive game of the NHL season. The Hawks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, the Leafs then roared back. In the end, the Leafs won 7-6 in OT.

John Tavares potted his first hat trick in a Leafs sweater.

Auston Matthews have the Leafs a 6-5 lead and in so dong incited Pat Kane in the process.

The 2018-19 Leafs are an exciting team to watch because they score so many goals. In three games played, Tavares and the Leafs have scored 13 goals. Great. Hold up. Pump the brakes. The Leafs cannot keep the puck out of their own net. The Leafs have allowed 13 goals against.

Scoring 4.3 goals for per game while allowing 4.3 goals per game against is not winning hockey.

The Leafs may want to trade for a top four defenseman to keep the puck out of their net.

Trading unsigned restricted free agent William Nylander may be the cure for all that is ailing the Maple Leafs and their porous defense corps.
