Coyotes Cut 14

The Coyotes got off to a decent start to the pre-season, losing the first game to the Knights, but then taking both versions of a split squad game with the Kings.

After the games, the Coyotes cut 14 players from their training camp roster.

As is traditional with the first cuts of camp, they are players who had virtually no chance of making the roster, and in no way surprising, let alone noteworthy.

This is not exactly a breaking news story, since it happened last night, but I figured it's worth a note, even a day late. (Sometimes you just have stuff going on.......which I'll be honest, for me it's just been non-stop playing of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on gamecube, which has completely taken over my life. )

Nothing too exciting on the list - definitely no major surprises. I'd type them out, but unless you're a super-major hockey nerd, you've never heard of any of them, and if you have heard of them, then you probably didn't need me to tell you about them in the first page.

I think this is called the catch 22 of laziness.

Of the 14 players, s are going to the AHL, including Oliver Ekman-Larsson's brother Kevin. Seven are going back to junior and the remaining guy is going back to the Czech Republic league.

All the major top prospects are sticking with the team, which currently has - according to NHL.com - 49 players left in camp.

The Coyotes will play the Ducks Saturday and Monday before - I assume - making even more cuts.

To be honest though, since Dvorak and Chychrun are injured, it kind of takes the fun out of the Strome / Oesterle storylines since the injuries pretty much assure they'll start on the team.

Regular Season starts soon!
