Coming next week, sign ups begin for the annual HockeyBuzz Super League Fantasy League. The HBSL is a hybrid between a salary cap game and a head-to-head fantasy game.
Each week you create your 20 man roster based on the actual NHL salary cap and the actual salary cap hits. You then face-off with a fellow hockey fan. At the end of the regular season, we throw the best 128 teams into a 7-week playoff.

I continue my team previews today with the Edmonton Oilers...This is one crazy fascinating team and maybe the most difficult to predict as to what is going to happen next...here is why:

What Went Right Last Season:
Connor McDavid.

What May Keep That From Happening Again:
If they don’t play him. Lets face it, McDavid was dominant and will always be dominant on the ice.

What Went Wrong Last Season:
Almost everything else. With the exception of Draisaitl, McDavid's 108 points more than DOUBLED the next highest point total of RNH’s 48. See below for the unbelievably bad overall stats.

What They Did to Address Their Issues:
Not much. Honestly. The Oilers are very much acting like last year was a mirage and all will be fine. They did grab Tobias Rieder, who I really do love…There is some hope in bringing in Alex Chaisson on a tryout. But neither player changes the numbers below…this team just needs to play better in all zones…

Goals Per Game
2.85 (20th in the NHL)

Goals Against per Game
3.21 (25th in the NHL)

Power Play
14.8% (31st! LAST)

Penalty Kill
76.7 (25th)

Face Off
48.7 (25th in NHL)

How old are they?
The average is 26.3, which makes them the 7th youngest team in the NHL.

How many ELC’s do they have making impacts: 1

Really only Puljujarvi….unless Yamamoto makes the team

Potential UFA’s/Trade Bait:
Cam Talbot may be the only real piece the Oilers could move if all falls apart.

In what rounds were their top 20 drafted?
First: 9
Second: 3
Third: 2
4th or higher: 3
Not Drafted: 3

Where are their top 20 from?
Canada: 13
German: 2
Finland: 2
Sweden: 2
Czech: 1
USA: ZERO*
*Unless Yamamoto makes the team then they will have 1…

How will they do?
You tell me…

My predictions to come...
