Just because Eric Karlsson is off the board it doesn't mean the teams who lost out aren't still searching hard for help....

One player who is quietly and surprisingly available is Oliver Ekman Larsson...who just signed a big contract....and Philly also has some D-men they may be willing to move I am told...but the price is of course very high.

Also still in play could be Rasmus Ristolainen...Risto had been on the market, was pulled off the market, but teams are still calling and some believe the Sabres are still listening...

Despite the price being high, it hasn't stopped three particular teams from being very aggressive and "calling around like crazy..."

"It is widely known that Montreal, Edmonton, and the Islanders are open for business and have mandate's to get another top 4 d-man prior to the start of the season...and they are calling around a lot," a source at the NHL offices told me last night in a phone call, "What they are willing to give up is surprisingly high."

How far should these teams be willing to go?

More to come, including my Deep Dive into the Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings...

Coming next week, sign ups begin for the annual HockeyBuzz Super League Fantasy League. The HBSL is a hybrid between a salary cap game and a head-to-head fantasy game.
Each week you create your 20 man roster based on the actual NHL salary cap and the actual salary cap hits. You then face-off with a fellow hockey fan. At the end of the regular season, we throw the best 128 teams into a 7-week playoff.
