Two days late, but the bridge deal is signed for Josh Morrissey who inks a 2 year deal with an AAV of 3.15 million.
However this shakes out there is one thing for certain- Morrissey has bet on himself (think Hellebuyck last year) so that when he comes out of this deal he's looking at a much bigger pay day. For the Jets they know they have to revisit this issue anytime after next summer and look for an extension. They wanted him long term and probably will still after this deal ends but at what price.
If Morrissey is worth 3.15 AAV now what could he be worth after 2 years and how much will it cost to value is UFA years then? Morrissey is betting on himself and inflation for his next deal and that's smart but not without risk. For the Jets they have him at a fair price for two years and that where some feel their window is now. This deal again leaves some flexibility at the trade deadline should the team need some space.
Now let's get serious about training camp.
