The Kontinental Hockey League’s commission has determined the best player of the first week of the Regular Season (including the September 1-2 games) in four categories.

Best Goaltender was Igor Bobkov (Avangard), who won three away games, shutting out Lokomotiv in one of the contests. The WJC gold medalist in 2011 ended the week with a save percentage of 97.33 and a goals-against average of 0.68. Bobkov’s numbers were the best in the league in both indicators. Bobkov kept his net clean for 111 minutes and 31 seconds.

- Best Defenseman was Darren Dietz (Barys), who had 5 (2+3) points in three road games (the best numbers by a player in his role). He also had a game-winning goal, in the match against Neftekhimik. Dietz posted no negative ratings, earning a +3 for the week. Moreover, he had nine shots on goal and blocked seven shots.

- Best Forward was Anton Burdasov (Salavat Yulaev), who celebrated three wins in four road games with his team, scoring four goals (the best result in the league) and adding a couple of helpers. In the game against SKA, Burdasov hit a double, with one of his goals being the game-winning one. Burdasov scored points in each of last week’s games and had 17 shots on goal. At the moment, the Salavat Yulaev forward is the top goal scorer and scorer in the league.

- Best Rookie was Nikolai Kovalenko (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl), who celebrated three wins in three games with his team, with one game being a road one. He also scored a goal against Sibir Novosibirsk, which was his first KHL goal. The 18-year-old forward posted no negative ratings, earned a +2 for the week, had an average time on ice of 10 minutes and 32 seconds and recorded 5 hits.
