Suter Is A Beast!

It may seem as though there is not a lot to talk about in mid August, but there is some news to speak of and that news pertains to the health of the Wild's top defenseman and the rock of the team Ryan Suter.

Suter suffered what at the time seemed like a significant injury as far as it would keep him sidelined for an extended period of time. But little did we or Suter for that matter know, just how bad his injury would be.

The original x-rays taken showed Suter had broken his right fibula, but a later MRI showed that Suter had broken his talus which is a bone between the heel and the tibia and fibula. This type of injury is more common to a car accident than one that occurs during a sporting event.

The delicateness of the surgery was the next hurdle for Suter, along with the lengthy recovery period. There were statements made that had Suter played other sports this type of injury may very well be career threatening. So by no means is it a foregone conclusion that Suter would return to be the player we have all grown accustomed to relying on game in and game out to be the steadying force on the Wild blueline.

Well the good news it first that we are talking about Ryan Suter no average human, a guy that works as hard and is as driven as anyone that has ever laced em up. Suter is skating again and vows to be ready for training camp which is just a short month away.

Suter will skate in a charity game on along with Zach Parise, who himself has fully recovered from his broken sternum suffered in game three of the Jets series, later this month.

Ryan normally doesn't start skating in the Summer until late July and says that he is only about a week and a half behind his usual schedule as far as the ice is concerned. But he also states that he is in the best shape of his career as he has been able to spend more time this offseason in the gym working out.

Suter is a beast of a player, logging huge minutes every year, and the term farmboy strong has never been more applicable to a player, than to Suter. But what if he is actually in better shape now than he has ever been in before?

That is promising news for the Wild as they prepare for the upcoming season.
