The Boston Bruins are signing German forward Marcel Noebels, according to multiple reports out of Germany.

"It's true," the 26-year-old Noebels said via (a surely rough) Google translate. "I have signed a contract for the camp.

"Much can happen. You never know what's coming."

While a relatively unknown talent to most, Noebels was part of the upstart German team that nearly pulled off one of the biggest upsets in international hockey history, nearly toppling Ilya Kovalchuk and the Olympic Athletes of Russia for gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The 6-foot-2 winger contributed one goal in seven Olympic Olympics contests, and added an assist in seven games at the 2018 IIHF World Championships in Denmark this past spring.

The left-shot Noebels has spent the last four years of his pro career with the Berlin Polar Bears of the DEL, where he's recorded 32 goals and 87 points in 144 games.

He ranked sixth among Polar Bear skaters in both goals (11) and points (30) in 52 games last season, and added six goals and 14 points in 18 playoff games for a Berlin squad that came just one win shy of capturing the league title.

A fourth-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2011 (118th overall), Noebels spent two years in the Flyers organization from 2012 through 2014, where he tallied 16 goals and 34 points in 95 games for the Adirondack Phantoms.

If what he's confirming to German press is indeed correct, Noebels becomes the second professional player the Bruins have signed from overseas this offseason, joining Czech League standout Martin Bakos.
