Depth signings

Some minor signings were made today.

These signings are more than likely going to help out the Baby Penguins more than they will the big club. The player that is likeliest to make the jump to the NHL is Teddy Blueger. The odds grow if Derick Brassard is pegged to play as a top six winger as opposed to third line center. Matt Cullen would most certainly get first dibs at being the fourth line center, but if he's completely shot and Brassard is a winger or traded away Blueger will be in the mix for that fourth line spot.

Blueger had 45 points in 70 games last year in WB/S. It was his 23 year old season so you'd like to see closer to a point per game in the AHL level to increase NHL probability. Given that fourth line center will be his ceiling with the organization there is a chance he could find success.

If Blueger does get ice time it's either he's seen an unlikely jump in performance or the Penguins lineup is in disarray. If the other two signings today (Prow, Di Pauli) get ice time in Pittsburgh it's because their big offseason signing was a complete bust.
