First off, I wanted to take some personal time to digest the Ray Emery tragedy.. I feel terrible for his family and friends and can't imagine the hell they are going through...

I had a chance to cover and get to know Ray Emery fairly well and I fully enjoyed my time talking to him, first during the Sens Cup run and then with the Flyers. In Ottawa, the Emery rumors, the white hummer, and more dominated the early part of his career in Ottawa. And people tend to forget how amazing he was in Ottawa during that run. His quickness and skill during those playoffs were very similar to what we just saw with Marc-Andre Fleury...

But there were issues...and those issues soon landed all of Emery's skills in Russia...when he returned to play in the NHL, and by the time he landed in Philly his hips were bad and his quickness had eroded...and yet he played extremely well by re-inventing his style and relying more on positional play...That was a remarkable transition...

He was humble about how hard he worked to almost re-learn the position...he was extremely kind and talked about his teammates. Ray Emery...rest in peace.

On Montreal....

Milan Lucic is available, and as I have said before I am told the Oilers reached out to Montreal about Lucic a few months ago and Montreal had very little interest...This morning I was told those talks have once again surfaced...

On Justin Faulk...

The Canes are currently talking to several teams regarding Justin Faulk and the latest and perhaps favorite may indeed be the Buffalo Sabres...

more to come...
