The Jets have added one of their likely back-up options in Laurent Brossoit the former Edmonton Oilers prospect and back up. In 2017-18 he played 14 NHL games with a 3.24 GAA and a .883 save percent with the Oilers
In the AHL he had .912 save%
The year before though Brossoit played 8 games with a 1.99 GAA and .928 Save %.

At 650,000 he's a cheap option and I'd expect him and Comrie to battle for back up come camp.

Given the Stastny news it's tough for some to swallow but the Jets are a very calculated group and they have other options. Here's a theory based on nothing other than me thinking stuff.

1. Stastny was the best option for the Jets but he's not the only option just the most logical and path of least resistance.

2. The Jets needed cap space regardless of Stastny so they can still use it in other ways, now and in the future.

3. What if they needed it to do plan B as much as Stastny as plan A? Perhaps there is a possible trade that can happen now where something goes out but more cap comes in to solve the Stastny conundrum?

4. The Jets are a methodical organization now, deep in prospect and talent with some control of the ship compared to yesterday's teams of 2011-2014

5. I'm not convinced something else does not happen.

Paul Stastny has apparently agreed to a three year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights. Disappointing for Jets fans but it was always going to be hard to keep him. What happens now will be interesting but according to TSN sources the Jets went above and beyond their cap limit comfort zone to try and keep him. If that's the case they are in a position to where overpaying again (Little) could be dangerous.

Michael Hutchinson has left the Jets organization and signed a deal with the Florida Panthers Andy Strickland reports.

Bob Mackenzie tweeted this AM that Vegas Golden Knights are the frontrunners for Paul Stastny.

More as it happens.
