The internet is usually not the nicest place. Auston Matthews is different. He is deserving of our collective love, and he was certainly feeling it last night. Fans and players alike were blown away by Matthews’ incredible start.

First, let’s address a real problem:

How many goals until all our phones stop autocorrecting Auston to Austin?

The autocorrect struggle is real, but we are making progress. At this rate, it won’t take too much longer.

In case you missed it (which really - hahaha - we know you didn’t), Auston Matthews had a pretty okay start. And by “okay,” I mean to say “HOLY CRAP THAT WAS INSANE.” This accurate scoreboard is a pretty solid example:

However, we shouldn’t take away from the fact that Leafs in general are looking closer to playoff contention than many originally thought.
