With Ducks on Deck Yeo's Club Must Show Ability to Punch Back

TD's Three Keys To Victory Tonight for the Minnesota Wild

1.) The Anaheim Ducks are the exact size/skill kryptonite that divides the fanbase on whether this Wild roster is capable of winning a cup. I think we saw in the last matchup between these two teams, the Wild struggles to clear the net and knock bigger bodies off the puck. The Ducks benefitted completely from a lights out performance by Anton Khudobin but lets be real here in admitting that the Ducks always camp out in the Wild zone using their size to lean on and punish the finesse defensemen on the State of Hockey. Tonight to ensure victory the Wild must retrieve the puck and use their skating and passing to eliminate Ducks forecheck.

2.) I think we are all wondering when Jason Pominville will make good on his excellent opportunities as a shooter playing with Mikael Granlund aka Finnish Jesus and Zach Parise aka Captain America. I think i have ruffled feather time and again with my numerous nicknames for Pominville during his extended stretches of not lighting the lamp and pretty lopsided contributions. My favorites for him are aka PominWhiff, aka PominBobble, and aka PominCoolStats! Haha I am hoping to eat some words soon on the talented winger but his decline in production and effectiveness matched with his contract and role are clear red flags in my mind. Pominville needs to get his goal scoring touch on track because his overall game leaves much to be desired.

3.) The defensive pairing will continue to be a highly scrutinized talker about this squad because at current Ryan Suter with Jared Spurgeon is the focal point for Yeo who has been trying to reinforce his offseason pairing of Jonas Brodin and Mathew Dumba. Tonight the Wild will have Nate Prosser in for Christian Folin which is going to be a loss of some size but maybe a good way to get some grittiness in the lineup. Marco Scandella may also feel a bit more protected with Prosser as his partner and activate a bit more tonight which could help him to launch a few more bombs from the blue line. I think as the pairings go so does this team, sure Devan Dubnyk has not played as well as he did last season bu the blue line needs to pick it up positionally.
