Opening GM & Coaching Jobs:
Carolina Hurricanes - I reported last week that Ulf Samuelsson is currently the front runner for the Carolina Hurricanes Coaching Job. The NYR have yet to grant the Hurricanes permission to speak with Ulf, because the Rangers are in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Hurricanes are waiting to speak to Ulf before they make their decision on their head caoch. Ulf is at the top of their list because of New GM Ron Francis' relationship with Ulf going back to their Penguins and Whaler days. If Ulf isn't hired, then look for Kevin Dineen to be the new bench boss.
Florida Panthers - Right now it appears there's 5 candidates for the Head Coaching Position. Gerard Gallant, Marc Crawford, Tom Renney, Ron Wilson, & Bill Peters. Word on the street is Peters has the upper hand because of his relationship with Dale Tallon going back to the Black hawks organization. Dale hired Peters as Rockford AHL Coach.
Vancouver Canucks - Name i keep hearing in Vancouver is AHL Texas Stars Head Coach Willie Desjardins.
Pittsburgh Penguins - As i mentioned on hockey buzz cast from Monday, dont' be surprised it Jimmy Rutherford is named new GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Today, a source told me that Jim is currently the front runner for the position. Other names Pens are talking to are Pierre McGuire, Tom Fitzgerald, Jason Botterill, Paul Fenton and Julien BriseBois.
