Jaromir Jagr has been vocal of his desire not to be traded from Jersey, and now hoping he stays in Jersey for another year. In a recent interview with Larry Brooks of the New York Post, Jagr was quoted:

"I like it here and I want to stay, but there's no rush,"... "I'll be here when they want to talk. I know I'm going to play in the NHL. I'm going to play in the NHL for as long as I can.

"I love it,"..."What else am I going to do, get fat?"

His sense of humor has been great. He was very vocal early on when expressing his desire for stability in line mates, but looks like he has settled into a nice groove with the team.

His experience, veteran leadership by example (first one on the ice, last one off - and then some more work), playmaking confidence even at 42 years of age has been welcomed. Not to mention it seems he is breaking records every week.

He leads the Devils in assists, points, game winning goals and shots. Second in goals.
He has played all 65 games, too. Not bad for a free agent pickup many were so skeptical on.

I would venture to say that he is playing better now than when he made his return in Philly or Boston and Dallas stops. He will be in the NHL next year, in New Jersey or not, and will keep adding to his magical career totals. What's scary is, he played a few years in Russia! Obviously, those state do not count in the NHL.

For one more year... Uncle Lou, make it happen.

And I would simply mirror this year's contract and let him have it.

What do you think, Devils fans? Sign or no sign?

Truly yours,
