Going out on a high note

January 26th, 2009 was the first day I 'officially' blogged as Hockeybuzz's Ottawa Senators blogger.

The blog was a full evaluation of the Sens position in the Eastern Conference and the record they would need, in order to make the playoffs.

Over the year I had a lot of fun interacting with so many of you and getting to see just how much hockey (in general) means to you guys.

It's you guys that made this job fun.

If you hadn't figured out yet, this is my last Sens blog for Hockeybuzz.

It's been a combination of things that have led me to walk away from being the Sens blogger.

Obviously I haven't been blogging/posting a lot over the past couple months, which isn't fair to you guys and it is the direct result of my focus being on finishing my college program.

I have also been given a great opportunity to expand into the sports world in position than is more beneficial to me and my career.

It’s because of these reasons that I have decided to stop blogging about the Sens.

Like I said it's been a fun year, for the most part.

I broke the Kuba resigning a good 5 minutes before TSN last year.

I broke the news that Neil would be unsigned and Ottawa would let him hit the UFA market, I didn't foresee Neil actually being resigned. I blame Toronto.

I alienated pretty much the entire Canucks community on Hockeybuzz during the playoffs last season when I said they were highly-overrated and wouldn't be able match the firepower and skill of most of the other western teams. Good ole Blackhawks.

And I said F Buffalo and it has such appeared in almost every Ottawa or Buffalo thread on the main page. I may have said F Buffalo, but Homiedtheclown really took the ball and ran with it. That was awesome and in all honesty, it was probably my favourite part of this job.

There are a bunch of other things, but those were the big things that stick with me still.

This job had worked out well as I’ve been able to make some great contacts in the hockey world, plus Ottawa is 5th in the east and on a six-game winning streak, with the team playing better and better lately.

It`s nice to leave to HB with the team in better shape then I started.

Hopefully I'll see a bunch of you around Ottawa for Hockey Day in Canada.
