Struggling Rangers meet struggling Sabres, someone has to win

The struggling Rangers meet the struggling Sabres tonight. A match up between two teams having major issues somehow has become must watch TV to see which squad is the worst. New York should win this game, but as we have seen, that means little.

Rangers lineup vs. Sabres:

Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Kreider-Zibanejad-Smith
Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko
Edström-Carrick-Berard

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Schneider
Jones-Mancini

Shesterkin
Quick

Scratches: Vesey, Mackey, Brodzinski, Vaakainanen (IR)

If at first you don't succeed, run out the same lineup again. If you are going to say that the team is not meeting expectations, why are you running out the same lineup and same lines again. Are we expecting a different result from what we say Monday or in the last 10 contests? A 2-8-0 mark in the last 10 contests should provide enough information that what you have been rolling out and the system deployed isn't working. But, hey, let's repeat the same action over and over.

Mollie Walker's notes from Rangers morning skate in Buffalo:
- Urho Vaakainanen (IR) continues to skate in green non-contact jersey (which means he won't be ready for the next game, because coach Peter Laviolette normally wants a player to skate in a regular practice before playing)
- Igor Shesterkin in goal tonight vs. Sabres (not a major surprise. Jonathan Quick will play one of the back-to-back games Saturday at home against the Kings or Sunday in St. Louis)
- Will Cuylle back on PP2 with Filip Chytil, Alexis Lafrenière, Reilly Smith and Zac Jones. Kaapo Kakko came off. (Let's see if Lavy switches to PP2 early on a man-advantage if the first unit is struggling)
