G7: Kraken vs Red Wings - Finding Balance

It has not been a great start for the Seattle Kraken. The team has two 4-1 losses in their last three games, sandwiched in between a 7-4 win against the Hurricanes.

The Kraken have managed only 3 points in their first 6 games. That is bad. The good news is that the entire Pacific Division with the exception of the Vegas Golden Knights have been brutal. While trying to gain ground on the 6-0-0 Vegas Golden Knights certainly feels insurmountable, catching the 3-2-0 Canucks or the 1-3-1 Oilers or the 2-3-1 Flames certainly feels much more doable.

Rough news once again as the Kraken announced the Andrei Burakovsky will again miss time; likely 6-8 weeks. The forward just can't seem to stay healthy which is tough to see.

Kartye has been bumped back onto the top line in the hopes that he can reignite the chemistry that he and Beniers had through the playoffs last season. Beniers has struggled immensely in his second season with only a single assist through 6 games and a big reason why the Kraken are struggling offensively. I wonder if Hakstol should consider bumping him down the lineup, perhaps letting Gourde take on the top line role and sheltering Beniers a bit more on a second line.

If the Kraken continue to struggle, do you call up Shane Wright? I don't think Wright suddenly fixes the team but maybe a shot in the arm of youthful vigor can help get things going the right way.

While the numbers don't suggest it, Grubauer has actually been really solid for the Kraken through the first few games, he just can't get any run support from the guys in front of him.

Tonight the Kraken are going up against a red hot Red Wings roster, currently being led by Dylan Larkin and Alex Debrincat going supernova on teams. In order to win this game, Seattle is going to need to do more than play defense and try and hold these guys back. They need to score some goals.
