With the win of the second round series by the Florida Panthers over the Toronto Maple Leafs, they now collide with the Carolina Hurricanes.

This is the first trip for Florida to the Eastern Conference finals since 1995-1996. It will also be the first trip in the conference finals for former Blue Jackets Zac Dalpe, Anthony Duclair, and Sergei Bobrovsky.

This helps Columbus with the Los Angeles Kings pick moving further up the rankings. It was tentatively set for 23rd, and is now at 22nd with the Panthers’ progression.

This helps the Jackets given what happened in the lottery, not by much. But it gives them one extra player to potentially explore selecting.

Carolina is the most complete team in the Eastern Conference. Did not risk the future and still have depth despite elite roster injuries.

Florida will push as they are the toughest and fiercest team, and have the most underrated skill between the core and genius coaching of Paul Maurice.

This is seven. Carolina wins as I said since the preseason.

Player Profile - Carson Meyer

Carson Meyer is a 25 year old right winger from Powell, Ohio. Meyer will be 26 come the beginning of the 23-24 season if he remains signed. He is a pending RFA.

Meyer stuck with Ohio AAA development hockey until the USHL came calling, taking him to the Tri-City Storm.

The central Ohio foward also split time in college between the Univeristy of Miami of Ohio and the Ohio State University.

The winger was selected in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft as an overeager, being taken 179th overall.

He has played mainly with Cleveland, but due to injuries on the main roster, he has suited up in 27 career games for Columbus. Carson Meyer has one goal and three assists.

Expect a league Min or AHL exclusive deal.
