The New York Rangers put a clinic on the Columbus Blue Jackets by the final score of 6-2 at the Garden on Tuesday night.
Filip Chytil opened the scoring for the Blueshirts five minutes into the game. His 22nd of the season was assisted by Alexis Lafereniere and K’Andre Miller.
Deadline acquisition Vladimir Tarasenko extended the lead less than two minutes later. The Russian winger’s 16th came from Braden Schneider and Ben Harpur.
Patrick Kane, my Rangers’ player to watch, furthered the lead with his 21st another minute after the Tarasenko goal. Vincent Throchek and Chris Kreider had the helpers.
Kirill Marchenko closed the Rangers’ shutout hopes with his 20th goal of the season. Jack Roslovic and Johnny Gaudreau earned the helpers on the only Columbus powerplay tally of the evening.
Gaudreau would add the second and final goal of the game with his 19th as a Blue Jacket. His multipoint night came with 30 seconds left in the first. His marker was assisted by Boone Jenner and Jake Christainsen.
Artemi Panarin brought the Rangers’ lead back to two with his 25th of the season. His powerplay goal was assisted by Adam Fox and Mika Zibanejad.
Zibanejad added to the Rangers’ night for his 38th of the year from the Breadman.
Vincent Throchek closed the game with an empty net for his 20th from Lafereniere and Fox.
Kane was my player to watch for the Rags, getting his 21st goal this season. He was a +2 in 14:03TOI.
Igor Shesterkin allowed 2 goals on 30 shots for a 0.933.
Adam Boqvist was my Columbus player to watch, having a -1 rating with 3 shots on goal and 2 blocks in 25:01TOI.
Michael Hutchinson allowed 5 goals on 35 shots for a 0.867 save percentage.
