The Hawks are back at it tonight in the UC for a matchup against the struggling Dallas Stars. The Stars come into this playing a bit of mediocre hockey with a 5-4-1 record over their last 10 games. While they are all but locked for a playoff berth, they sit just 3 points behind division leader Minnesota Wild with a game in hand. Expect Dallas to come out strong in this one and try to build off their 5-2 victory over the Hawks back on March 2nd.

The Hawks are coming into this one riding a 5-game losing streak and have a 2-7-1 record over their last 10. Again, they kept their game against Vancouver close for most of the game and even seemed to outplay them in the third. However, letting up two goals in less than a minute isn’t ideal and just took all the life out of this team. I thought Mrazek played well once again, stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced, and while I know we are hoping for the losses to continue to pile up, you have to hope he gets a win here in the final few games of the season because he absolutely deserves it.

Speaking of players who have been playing well, Boris Katchouk has taken advantage of his opportunities since the trade deadline. Averaging 14:36 minutes of ice time in the 12 games since the deadline, he also finds himself tied for the team lead in points during that span with 7 (2-5). It's not just him either; it seems like all the role players have really stepped up their game, with Khaira and Anthanasiou, both collecting 6 points, and Anderson and Dickenson picking up 5 points each. Lukas Reichel is also playing some good hockey, scoring in back-to-back games, pushing his goal total on the year to 5. I know it isn’t exactly the way we want this club to be playing, but as it’s been said many times before, you have to take the small victories when you can, and boy are our victories small.
