The Columbus Blue Jackets and Johnny Gaudreau power through the San Jose Sharks with a 6-5 overtime performance.

The San Jose Sharks opened the scoring just before the midway point of the first period off a power play marker from Alexander Barabanov for his 14th of the season from Logan Couture and Tomas Hertl.

Minutes later, the Blue Jackets evened the game for the second time (0-0 is always first). Johnny Gaudreau potted his 16th of the season from Patrik Laine and Gavin Bayreuther.

Less than two minutes into the second period, the Jackets got their first lead of the game with a Kent Johnson for his 14th of the year. Gaudreau got his second point of the game, and Daniil Tarasov got his first career assist.

Captain Boone Jenner extended the visitor's lead with his 21st of the season from Johnny Hockey and Bayruether.

Seconds after the midway mark of the second period, William Eklund got his first career NHL goal from Derrick Pouliot and Hertl.

Jenner answered back late in the second with his second of the game and 22nd of the campaign from Johnny Jacket.

San Jose captain Logan Couture cut to lead by one with one second left in the second period for 24th of the season. Erik Karlsson and Pouliot had the assists.

Liam Foudy got the final regulation goal for his fourth career goal from Mathieu Olivier and Nick Blankenburg.

Kevin Labanc got his 11th this year from Matt Benning and Fabian Zetterlund.

Nikolai Knyzhov evened the game for the third time for his first of the season from Couture and Barbanov.

Johnny Gaudreau got the game winner off a rebound effort for his 17th of the season and second of the night. Patrik Laine had the lone assist.

Erik Karlsson was my Sharks' player to watch. Karlsson had one assist with a -1 rating; 6 shots; a penalty; and 2 blocks in 33:46TOI.

Kappo Kahkonen was the goaltender for San Jose. Kahkonen stopped 42 of 48 shots for a 0.875 save percentage.

Lane Pederson was my Blue Jackets' player to watch. Pederson had a penalty, 5 hits, a block shot, and a 71.4% in the faceoff dot for 12:05TOI.

Daniil Tarasov was the starter for the Blue Jackets. Tarasov stopped 27 of 32 for a 0.844 save percentage.
