The Penguins have been off for a few days and now the rest of the NHL is as well. We are officially on the All Star break. Sidney Crosby will be representing the Penguins this year and Alex Ovechkin will also be going representing the Capitals. This hasn’t been a common thing. Neither player cares for the game and both have had “injuries” leading up to it in year’s past. Not only are they going to be at the All Star game, but they will be collaborating with one another.

This is pretty cool. These two are the bonafide megastars of their era and they’ve been at odds for most of it. In later years things have been more cordial. Now that they are both near the ends of their careers with Cups and rooms full of individual awards the animosity isn’t what it once was.

Rumor has it that Sidney Crosby will take three handles of the puck and then try a quick snap shot to the goalie’s five-hole as part of the collaboration… I kid, I think. My hope is Sid leans into his unreal pucks skills he likes to keep to himself and lets out some personality. This has potential to be a great all star weekend moment.

Sid will also be involved with Nate MacKinnon and a dunk tank.

Not sure what this is, but again, nice to see Sid getting out there and hopefully showing some personality.

The Athletic has been counting down the top 100 players of the modern era. Slotting in at #5 overall in both his draft year (1990) and this countdown is Penguins and hockey legend, Jaromir Jagr.
