Prior to the start of this season, I wonder which of these statements would have seemed the most far-fetched.

- The Boston Bruins would lose their first home game in regulation since April 16th, 2022 on January 12th, 2023.

- The team that would be the one to end this streak would be the Seattle Kraken.

- They would win the game 3-0 with Martin Jones (the Kraken's starter) being the one to earn the shutout.

- The win would be the Kraken's 7th win in a row.

- The win would put Seattle 2 points out of 2nd in the Pacific Division and also that the Kraken would have the best goal differential in the Pacific Division at +25.

If the Seattle Kraken were not already getting noticed around the NHL, last night's game, arguably the best game I have watched this season should be getting people's attention. It was a battle all night with both teams defending well and trading chances. The Bruins are the best team in the NHL this season by far and Seattle was able to go head to head with them all night.

Scoring chances for at 5 on 5 finished 25-25. This was not Martin Jones stealing a win for the Kraken, nor was it horrendous play by the Bruins. It was simply two very good teams going after one another with Seattle coming out on top. We are past the halfway mark of the season and Seattle still remains in a playoff position and is only seeming to improve.

All three goals the Kraken scored were goals a snapshot of how the Kraken have played this season. The Tanev goal started with Tanev laying a big hit in the offensive zone, followed by Sprong being the one to beat Lindholm to the puck and firing it on net. Tanev immediately after laying the hit went to the net and tipped it in for the first goal. Great shift in general by the fourth line.

The next goal came courtesy of Eeli Tolvanen who now has 4 goals in his past 7 games. Tolvanen collects the puck, spins and just wires it past Ullmark top corner. It continues to boggle my mind that Tolvanen not only was placed on waivers, but that 20 other teams decided to pass on him. He is showing he is a strong producer at 5 on 5 in a depth roll and was an astute pickup by Ron Francis.

The fourth line got the team on the board, the third line kept them rolling, and the second line would clinch the win on the empty net goal by Schwartz. There wasn't anything impressive about the goal (complete luck really that it got on net) but more important was the work done in front of the net prior. Larsson, Dunn, and Wennberg all played key defensive roles in blocking shots and limiting the lanes which got possession back to Schwartz for the goal.

Hard work. Scoring from multiple lines. Playing a strong system in front of the goalie. All of these were on display as the Kraken beat the top dog in the NHL. If this team did not have confidence before, they certainly should now.

Seattle needs to enjoy this win and take a deep breath before the final game of their road trip against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Hawks are a brutal team this season but last night we also saw them take advantage of a Avalanche team that seemed to already be looking past them. A win against the Hawks could officially put the Kraken in second in the division with a legitimate shot at winning the Pacific Division. It's an exciting time and I hope more people start jumping on this Kraken bandwagon.
