The New Jersey Devils lose in a shootout to the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4. Jesper Bratt had two goals while Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes each put in one goal. Mackenzie Blackwood made 43 saves in the loss.

It was the first shootout for the Devils and Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta was perfect by stopping Tomas Tatar, Bratt, and Hughes.
