Game 27 Preview: Flyers vs. Capitals

John Tortorella's Philadelphia Flyers (9-12-5) will host Peter Laviolette's Washington Capitals (11-12-4) at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday evening. Game time is 7:00 p.m. ET.

The Flyers will conclude a five-game homestand in which they've gone 2-2-0 thus far. The Capitals will wrap up a six-game road trip in which they've posted a 2-2-1 record to date. The Flyers enter this game coming off a 5-3 home win against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, while the Capitals earned a 3-2 road win over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

The Flyers will have James van Riemsdyk back in the lineup. He has missed the last 20 games while on IR for a broken right index finger that required surgery on Oct. 28. Tanner Laczynski was placed on IR on Tuesday for a lower-body injury sustained in the third period of Monday's game against Colorado. Cam Atkinson (upper-body injury) practiced with the team on Tuesday but remains unavailable to play. He will miss his 27th game of the season.

The Capitals are every bit as injury riddled as the Flyers. For this game, they could be without eight or more regulars, and the team has six players who remain on IR.

The Flyers broke an 0-for-20 drought on the power play in Saturday's game against New Jersey. Subsequently, they went 2-for-3 on the man advantage against Colorado. The team will now look to make it three straight games with a power play goal and, for the first this season, three straight games of winning the overall special teams battle.
