Game Day: Hawks vs Jets

I hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday weekend and hasn’t let the Hawks play affect it at all. In the big picture of things it is great to see the Ls piling up but as a competitive fan watching them blow a 3 goal lead and letting up 5 goals in the third against Dallas was beyond frustrating.

While I didn’t get to watch the Montreal game as I was working, I know the big story out of that one was the Dach celebration after the shootout winner. Listen, I have zero issues with this. How the fan base can boo this kid is beyond confusing. It was never going to work for him in Chicago thanks to the mismanagement of him with the last regime and Davidson was able to turn him into a 1st round pick. He gets his fresh start in Montreal, which he is taking full advantage of, and we get a prospect who potentially turns into what we were hoping Dach would be. Time to move on and just focus on who is in our system now.

Since the last blog, the Hawks have been free falling in the standings and now sit in last place in the Central and are now 29th in the league while only sitting 3 points ahead of the last place Ducks. The tanking is in full effect and the schedule is not about to get any easier any time soon.

First up on this tough stretch of games, the Winnipeg Jets.

The Jets continue to be one of the surprises this year as they sit 3rd in the Central with a 12-6-1 record and coming off an overtime win against the division leading Dallas Stars. The last time these two teams met in Winnipeg it was all Jets as they handed the Hawks a 4-0 beat down that at the time was the teams worst performance of the season. I think the only thing the Hawks might have going for them is they will most likely be seeing the back up David Rittich in net.

Players to Watch
Josh Morrissey 4 goals 16 assists 20 points
Pierre-Luc Dubois 8 goals 9 assists 17 points
Kyle Connor 7 goals 10 assists 17 points

Projected Starter
David Rittich 3-1 2.77 GAA .890 SV%

Quick Hawks Notes
~Mrazek should get the start in this one
~Stalock who has been out since November 1st is on the ice for morning skate
~Tinordi is MIA from the morning skate, something to keep an eye on.

Puck Drop is 7pm Chicago Time.
