Quick Hits: October 6, 2022

1) The Flyers made 10 training camp roster cuts on Wednesday: most notably 21-year-old defenseman Cam York and 2020 first-round pick Tyson Foerster. The latter was expected prior to camp. In York's case, after three separate coaches in camp challenged him to step up the impact and consistency of his game -- first Ian Laperriere then Brad Shaw and then John Tortorella -- it became clear that he was in danger of an AHL assignment.

On PhiladelphiaFlyers.com, there is an in-depth analysis of each of the 10 roster cuts. The longest section, naturally, discusses York.

2) With the six-game training camp schedule completed (1-4-1), the Flyers resume on-ice practice at the FTC in Voorhees for an 11 a.m. practice on Thursday. The team will have 11 a.m. practices on Friday and Sunday with an off-day on Saturday. Upcoming practices will be focused on installing team systems.

3) Winger Zack MacEwen, who is in a battle for an NHL roster spot, was the special guest at the Flyers Fan Club's October meeting. For membership information, click here.

4) Today in Flyers History: October 6, 2009. Mike Richards' second career hat trick and an overtime goal by Danny Briere lifted the Flyers to a 6-5 home overtime win against the Washington Capitals.

5) October 6 Flyers Alumni birthdays: Danny Briere (1977), Ville Leino (1983).
