The Columbus Blue Jackets have defeated the Buffalo Sabres by the final score of 4-1.

Emil Bemstrom’s deflection opened the scoring for the game and the home team for his first of the preseason; Stanislav Svozil and the newly extended Andrew Peeke had the helpers.

Kirill Marchenko’s power play goal would become the eventual game winner, and counts as his first of the preseason; Mikael Pyyhita and Jona Luoto had the assists.

Chase Priskie replied with the line Buffalo goal for his first of the preseason: Jack Quinn and Kale Clague had the helpers.

Jakub Voracek registered his second goal of the season late in the third period; Trey Fix-Wolansky and Jack Roslovic had the helpers.

Carson Meyer closed the game scoring with the team’s first short handed goal of the preseason; Justin Richards and Vladislav Gavrikov had the helpers.

Eric Comrie was in the net for Buffalo, stopping 27 of 31 shots; Jet Graves stopped all 13 shots faced, while Daniil Tarasov allowed one goal on 10 shots for a 0.900 save percentage (90%)

P4 — St. Louis Blues

The Blue Jackets travel to Missouri to collide with the Blue Notes this evening at the Scottrade Center.

St. Louis had a fascinating offseason with early long term extensions being awarded to forwards Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas, while leaving pending UFAs Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko in the unknown.

The Blues lost forward David Perron and goaltender Ville Husso to the Detroit Red Wings; veteran Tyler Bozak went to market; and goalie Charlie Lindgren was picked up by Washington. They added depth options in Martin Frk and Josh Levio on the offense, and goalie Thomas Greiss from Detroitto backup Jordan Binnington.
