Preseason Gameday: Flyers vs. Capitals

Playing the third game of their six-game preseason schedule, the Philadelphia Flyers return home on Wednesday to play the Washington Capitals at the Wells Fargo Center. Game time is 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Flyers are 1-1-0 on the preseason to date.

On Tuesday, the Flyers sustained a 2-1 road loss to the Buffalo Sabres. Brandon Biro scored both goals for Buffalo, while Travis Konecny's give-and-go tally off a first period line rush with James van Riemsdyk and Morgan Frost accounted for the lone Philadelphia goal.

Troy Grosenick yielded both Biro goals. The netminder was off his angle on the first one and the second was a 38-foot shot through a screen. He and the Flyers caught a pair of breaks in the second period on shots that beat him but hit the post Samuel Ersson was sharp in playing the final 20 minutes. In something of an oddity, the Flyers and Sabres had identical shot on goal totals in all three periods: 6-6, 8-8, and 7-7.

Goaltender Carter Hart (day-to-day, lower body injury) has not yet been medically cleared to play after being involved in a three-player collision at the net in Saturday's non-game group practice. He has been on the ice with the other goalies, however, and is slated to practice on Wednesday.

Based on Tuesday's non-game group practice combinations at the Flyers Training Center (FTC) in Voorhees, the Flyers' lineup for Wednesday appears to be as follows:

74 Owen Tippett - 13 Kevin Hayes - 52 Tyson Foerester
62 Olle Lycksell - 21 Scott Laughton - 57 Wade Allison
44 Nic Deslauriers- 58 Tanner Laczynski - 52 Hayden Hodgson
71 Max Willman - 81 Jordy Bellerive - 76 Isaac Ratcliffe

9 Ivan Provorov - 77 Tony DeAngelo
6 Travis Sanheim -55 Rasmus Ristolainen
24 Nick Seeler - 54 Egor Zamula

32 Felix Sandström
33 Samuel Ersson

The Capitals game-night roster is below. Charlie Lindgren is the expected starter in goal.

Wednesday's schedule for the Flyers is as follows:

Game Group Morning Skate: Flyers Rink at the FTC
10 a.m. - Pregame Skate
7 p.m. - Flyers vs. Capitals (Wells Fargo Center)

Non-Game Group Practices: Phantoms Rink at the FTC
10-10:50 a.m. - Non-Game 1
11-11:50 a.m. - Non-Game 2
