The San Jose Sharks have announced the hiring of David Quinn as the team’s new head coach.

Quinn most recently coached the New York Rangers for three seasons between 2018 and 2021. He managed a 96-87-25 record in 208 games with New York.

Prior to his job with the Rangers, he coached many current NHLers through five years as the head coach of Boston University. Quinn replaces Bob Boughner, who was fired by the Sharks earlier in the summer.

It was heavily reported last week that Quinn was set to become the team’s new coach, so the announcement certainly comes as no surprise. Quinn's hiring continues an offseason of major change for the Sharks.
