Happy to be proven wrong here. The Oilers and forward Jesse Puljujarvi have agreed to a one year deal worth 3 million, avoiding arbitration. This contract can be looked a couple of different ways. First off if he plays it is a solid deal for a forward that can play either in the top six or on the third line. Puljujarvi continues to be a positive force on the ice defensively and assuming he has recovered from his injuries he could easily be the player that scored 23 points in the first 28 games.
Alternatively part of the issue with trading JP was teams were worried about what he would make in arbitration. Having a contract now takes away that unknown if Holland does want to trade the player. Personally I hope that is not the case but that could be something we discuss from now until opening night when he actually steps out onto the ice.
