Wings give up 4-1 lead, lose to Toronto
Game Summary: Larkin is just 9 goals short of his career high of 32. His assist in OT was his 20th (43 points in 41 games). The Captain is feeling it and looks like a man on a mission. Detroit has had a brutal January as far as wins and losses go, so this was a welcome win.
If Anaheim really enters full “rebuild”, Gibson is one of their finest chips. He truly has the ability to keep the team in games even as the roster continues to age and shift.
Back to Larkin, I truly believe he’s getting more notice and respect as a leader on the ice. We can only hope that he will continue to grow and move forward as the team brings in more pieces.
First Period Red Wings’ goals:
Larkin is pushing a decent clip to hit 30 this season. Filip Zadina made a nice cross ice pass, and Larkin seems to speed up when skating with the puck. Drove to the goal and netted a nice backhander.
No 2nd period Wings’ goals
No 3rd period Wings’ goals
O.T.:
Larkin figured into the scoring again as he won an O zone faceoff and the puck landed right on Jordan Oesterle’s stick. Oesterle made no mistake and planted his first as a Wing (and first in 62 games). At first glance it looked like Seider got a stick on the puck to move it to his defensive partner. Regardless, it’s good to have #71 and #53 on the ice in O.T.
