After returning home from their California road swing and pasting the Colorado Avalanche 8-3 on Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs head out on the road once again for back-to-back weekend games against Central Division opponents, starting with a Saturday night tilt with the Minnesota Wild.

The Wild lead their division with 33 points and like Toronto has won their last five straight. The Leafs have won 15 of their last 17 games and have outscored their opponents 26-7 during the most recent winning streak.

The club dealt with some nagging injuries at practice on Friday before heading out to St. Paul. Morgan Rielly did not participate due to getting x-rays after blocking a shot that during the West Coast road swing. The x-rays came back negative, and the defenseman is not expected to miss any time.

Mitch Marner collided with Jake Muzzin and left the ice, but is was for precautionary reasons and the winger is not expected to miss any time.

Joseph Woll was on the ice at Ford Performance Centre after missing Wednesday’s game with some stiffness, which could make him available for the second of back-to-back games on Sunday in Winnipeg, but the Leafs will bring three goaltenders on the trip.

Ondrej Kase, who was placed on IR retroactively to make room for Michael Hutchinson on Wednesday, skated in his normal place with Pierre Engvall and David Kampf, which could mean that he is close to returning from an upper body injury that kept him out the last three games.

Ilya Mikheyev is ramping up after missing the last seven weeks with a broken thumb. Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe indicated that the winger will travel with the club, but is not expected to play.

Goalie Petr Mrazek was sent down to the AHL Marlies on a LTIR conditioning stint and will play on Sunday against Laval, but it is uncertain how long the veteran will play before being ready to return to the NHL.
