The Flyers are holding a press conference momentarily. The early word is that this will be more of a “state of the union” presser, but with pressure mounting on a team that looks lost this could get interesting… I will update this blog with any news, and then I will add my opinions on the state of the Flyers…I have a few….

Fletcher Updates:

“Parts of our games have taken steps back. When Hayes, Brassard…get back..we will be better.”

“We were 6-2-2….the last ten we’ve slipped back.”

“We’ve shown ability to play better. We need to get back their to make decisions.”

“In the first ten we showed the ability to play better. We need to get back too that.”

“Morgan Frost has played well.. His PK improved in Lehigh Valley.”

EK: Sounds like Kevin Hayes will be back tomorrow. They are putting ALOT on him. Frost will get to center Brassard’s line.”

On Coaching…
“The Coaches started off great. In the last ten games everyone has slipped. We played 7 of the top ten teams.”

Ek: Not loving that answer. The reality is the Flyers players are frustrated by the massive changing of lines with injuries as well as the coaches tinkering. They were good in the first ten, but NOT great.

Michel Therien’s power play is 28th…

Fletcher:
“We haven’t had a good power play since 14-15. Biggest problem now is our zone entries. It goes beyond the coaching.” Fletcher says the power play is a player issue. “I don’t know that we have the natural goal scorers from the flank.”

“Phantoms have been decimated by injuries.”

Fletcher wants to see the team as a whole before a coaching change is made. That means Hayes and Ellis missing is considered an issue.

The NHL has out teams on high alert as COVID cases increase.

A memo was just sent to all 32 teams telling them to be more careful, cancel all team holiday parties, and all public appearances. There is a definite feel that the NHL is getting very nervous about the Olympics…
