Battle of Florida: Let’s Get Back on Track

The Cats are trending in the wrong direction after dropping their third game in a row to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night - but managed to scoop up a point in the shootout.

Tonight’s matchup is coming at the right time for a team playing a disjointed game as of late. What I mean by that is the Battle of Florida could snap these guys back into shape as they will undoubtedly find themselves in a battle with the in-state rival Tampa Bay Lightning. Either that or they take a throttling. I feel like there won’t be an in between tonight for some reason.

One of the areas the Panthers need to improve is the Power Play. Going 0-4 against the Penguins, with a PP in OT, is a tough look. But this is no surprise really. Florida’s PP has been rough for a number of seasons. They just can’t seem to unlock the right formula to capitalize on the man advantage and make the opposition pay.

Looking on the bright side of things, Bob returned from injury and picked right up from where he left off.

From the Panthers’ website:

“Helping the Panthers earn at least one point in all eight of his appearances so far this season, Bobrovsky owns a 6-0-1 record with a 1.73 goals-against average and .946 save percentage.”

Bob looks like the real deal this year, returning to his Vezina focus and play. I know it’s early but I think he’ll be the difference-maker for these guys this year. He just looks like he’s back on track. Hopefully him getting regular reps in the blue paint again will stabilize the Panthers’ wobbly wheels as of late.

What a great opportunity these guys have tonight: To snap a losing streak against a hated foe. Let’s come out firing and win this thing! FOR FLORIDA! (LOL)
