The Las Vegas Golden Knights kick off a four game road trip in Toronto to play the Maple Leafs today at 5pm for what should be an interesting challenge for a a team starting to find ways to win despite being decimated by injury. To that, center William Karlsson is on IR for the next six weeks with a broken foot.

Head Coach Peter DeBoer says former Ranger Brett Howden will take his spot centering the Marchessault-Reilly line. Brett Howden has been a marginal NHLer to date and this doesn’t seem like a good idea, but Peter DeBoer knows what he’s doing. The road trip will be against the Leafs today, Ottawa Thursday, Montreal Saturday, and Detroit Sunday. At least those are all very beatable NHL teams.

Welcome Amadio
The Leafs gave C/RW Mike Amadio three games before waiving him. Tonight the 25 year old Sault Ste. Marie native will get an opportunity to strike back in his first game as a Golden Knight. Here’s hoping Amadio finds a place on a team that prides it’s self on getting careers on track. He has 40 points in 176 career games.

This is getting rediculous

Throw in a defenceman and a goalie (knock on wood) and Team Injury could easily beat the current Golden Knights. I bring it up nearly every piece, but injury attrition from playoff success has caught up to the Knights. The circumstances this season has thrust the Golden Knights back into an underdog role. A role they relish in.

Another struggling team
The 4-4-1 Maple Leafs have been struggling to start their season. They scraped by against Chicago and Detroit and just seem very off. Nine games into the season Matthews and Marner have a combined five points — they collectively tie the amount of points Leafs castoff Connor Brown has on the season. The Leafs will struggle to beat sub-par teams as long as those two can’t find a way to get their offence going.

Enjoy the game,
