WIld Do Some Team Bonding Ahead of '21-22 Campaign

While we have to wait until Friday night for the Wild to open their 2021-22 season, we did get to see some meaningful games last night.

In Vegas, the Seattle Kraken officially began their NHL regular season existance with a loss in Vegas. Despite the outcome the NHL's latest entry faired pretty well in their debut.

After getting down 3-0 they clawed their way back to tie the game before surrendering the winning goal. Former Wild forward Ryan Donato, who was signed as a free agent in September after San Jose declined to tender a qualifying offer, scored the Kraken's first ever goal.

Donato is getting a new lease on his NHL career and it has at the very least gotten off to a good start. Definitely rooting for Donato to succeed in the Pacific Northwest.

As for the Wild they have headed north to Duluth and the North Shore for some time of team bonding before they embark on the 82 game regular season grind.

They had a practice at Amsoil Arena after the team spent time relaxing in the saunas at Larsmont Cottages. They also took a dip into the frigid waters of Lake Superior as the entire team jumped in together.

A couple more nights and then the lights come up for real and this season promises to be one like no other here in Minnesota.

We know that the Central Division is arguably the toughest division in the NHL and that only four teams will make it to the post season. The Wild had a solid and inspiring short season last year while playing in the Honda/West Division. Finishing 3rd and taking the Vegas Golden Knights to seven games left us all with high hopes for the Wild future.

That said this year the expecatations have been raised significantly and just making the playoffs absolutely will not be enough...
