The Los Angeles Kings announced yesterday that forward Quinton Byfield will be out indefinitely with an ankle fracture. The injury occurred during the Kings’ preseason game against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday.

Byfield is just 19 years old and is arguably the team’s top prospect, after being selected second overall by the Kings last year. He spent last season with the AHL’s Ontario Reign, scoring eight goals and 20 points in 32 games and also suited up for six games with the Kings.

The young forward would’ve had a chance to win a spot in the lineup, though it wouldn’t have been an easy task, given the team’s crowded forward group.
